VyOS on Nutanix
The Nutanix solution is made up of two distinct pieces: Prism, and Acropolis. Prism is a tool to manage your data center that provides one-click infrastructure management, one-click operational insights and one-click planning. Acropolis is the operating system that includes the distributed storage fabric, the application mobility fabric and the Acropolis hypervisor called AHV.
Using VyOS together with a license-free Nutanix AHV, you can build your fully-functional and flexible enterprise-level network infrastructure both on-premises and on private and public clouds. Nutanix Prism provides a simple plane to manage the computing, storage and networking resources, and, coupled with VyOS CLI, ensures advanced networking capabilities, such as network management.
Common use cases
VyOS is a powerful network OS that can be deployed on Nutanix AHV (Acropolis Hypervisor) as a Virtual Appliance/VNF on-premises or on popular public clouds.
Site-to-Site Connectivity
(IPSec, WireGuard, OpenVPN, DMVPN) between Nutanix managed clouds; to connect multiple sites directly to the cloud through a frequent secure network over the Internet
VPN Access Concentrator
(OpenVPN, L2TP) to provide access to the internal cloud network; acting as an L2TPv3 router to provide Layer 2 stretching across the distributed sites.
Border/Edge Gateway
(BRAS, BGP, OSPF) to provide access from a cloud to the Internet; serve as an exterior and interior BGP-peer to ensure a high level of network stability and availability.
Stateful Firewall
Flexible firewall configuration enhances protection abilities and allows to provide granular network access, including Zone-based firewalling.
